Mr Nicholson visits farms across Northumberland to hand select the very best produce. Our meat is traditionally hand prepared by our skilled butchers ensuring each cut is exactly how we want it.

Freshly prepared sausages, burgers, kebabs, steaks, gammon and ready to eat dishes are prepared here by our expert butchers …in fact everything you can buy is made in store using recipes which have been with us for over 100 years – passed down through the generations. We’ll give you step-by-step cooking instructions to help you in the kitchen. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for, our friendly butchers are happy to prepare cuts to your exact requirements.



Mark is Charlie Nicholson’s Grandson and Doug’s Nephew and has worked at Nicholson’s for 26 years and has been a butcher for the same amount of time. Mark’s favourite product is our homemade chicken Kiev or the amazing steak pie’s. We asked Mark “What do you love about Nicholson’s?” and he said “Our friendly service and the different range of products” we also asked him what his favourite memory is “Winning a ‘Gold Award’ for our Pork Sausage and being able to work for so many years with my grandpa Mr Nicholson senior”



Sean has worked at Nicholson’s for over 17 years and has been a butcher for 40 years! Sean takes care of filling our wonderful counter his favourite product is Our Homemade Chicken Schnitzels. We asked Sean what he loves about Nicholson’s and a favourite memory of his – he said “My work colleagues and The 100 year celebration week”



Alan has been a butcher for 43 years and has worked at Nicholson’s for 18 years. Alan creates our wonderful window displays as well as keeping on top of our pre packed ranges in our multideck fridges. We asked Alan what his favourite product was and what he loves about Nicholson’s – “My award winning Steak Burgers with cheese and spring onions and I love The Team Spirit”. We also asked him for a favourite memory – he said “Working with Charlie Nicholson – known to us all as ‘THE BOSS’ never known such a gentleman and is greatly missed”



Tony loves our Homemade Chicken Nuggets!! And loves the banter between the staff and the customers. He has been a butcher for 52 years and worked at Nicholson’s for 8. When we asked him to think of a favourite memory he said “Getting my job at a ‘proper’ butchers shop after working for 6 weeks in a supermarket butchers!“



Andy has been at Nicholson’s for 5 years but has been a butcher for 38 years! Andy takes care of most of our beef butchery – hand butchering all the beef into the joints and steaks you take home! His favourite product is our Homemade Pork, Black Pudding and Coriander Sausages. When we asked him what he loves about working at Nicholson’s he said “working for a traditional family butcher”



Kevin spends a lot of his time in the back shop – skilfully preparing our beef, lamb and pork into joints, steaks and cuts ready for sale in the shop. He has been with us for 3 years but has been a butcher for 30. When we asked him what he loves about the job and his favourite product he said “he loves the friendly working atmosphere and the pork shoulder joints”
